Decker Scientific was founded in 2022 by Scott Decker, a seasoned expert with over two decades of experience in wastewater treatment and odor control. The company began with a focus on providing proprietary chemistries to the oil and gas industry, especially for handling scale and H2S issues. In 2023, Scott’s son, Logan Decker, joined the team, contributing his background in avionics and electronics to enhance the company’s technical capabilities. In 2024, John Decker, a seasoned sales professional with deep industry connections, particularly in the Houston, TX area, came on board, further strengthening the company’s foothold in the oil and gas sector. With a strong leadership team and the establishment of an advisory board, Decker Scientific continues to grow and expand its impact across the industry.

Scott Decker | Founder & Chief Innovator
Scott Decker brings over 20 years of experience in wastewater treatment, odor control, and chemical engineering to Decker Scientific. As the founder of the company, Scott has pioneered innovative solutions in the oil and gas industry, particularly in combating scale and H2S-related issues. His extensive background includes developing ozone-based technologies for a variety of applications, from food processing to municipal wastewater treatment. Scott’s expertise and dedication to problem-solving have helped shape Decker Scientific into a forward-thinking and solution-driven enterprise.
Logan Decker | Chief Technology Officer
Logan Decker joined Decker Scientific in 2023, following a successful career in avionics and electronic technology. With a keen focus on technical innovation, Logan leverages his expertise to enhance the company’s product development and operational capabilities. His problem-solving skills, cultivated during his time as an avionics and field service technician, provide a unique perspective that enables Decker Scientific to deliver tailored, highly effective chemical solutions to clients. John Decker | Chief Sales Officer
John Decker, a seasoned sales leader with years of experience in the oil and gas industry, joined Decker Scientific in 2024. With an extensive network of contacts and a strong foothold in the Houston, TX area, John brings invaluable industry knowledge and business acumen to the company. His expertise in building client relationships and driving sales growth positions Decker Scientific for continued success and expansion. John’s strategic vision and deep understanding of industry dynamics help the company connect with new markets and strengthen its presence in the competitive oil and gas landscape.
Scott Shields | Chief Financial Officer
Scott Shields is a distinguished advisor with over 25 years of experience in the oil & gas, LNG, and broader energy sectors. Through Morgan Shields Energy Consulting LLC, he provides strategic advisory services, bringing deep expertise in corporate finance, commercial negotiations, risk management, and strategic planning. Scott’s extensive career includes transformative roles at Exxon Corporation, Enron, and Repsol Energy North America, where he structured high-value agreements and guided critical energy ventures, including a $547 million international LNG contract.

Lawson Petty | Advisory Member
Lawson Petty is a seasoned professional in the chemical sales industry, currently serving in a key sales role at Tri-Chem Industries since 2022. With over 3 years of experience at Coil Chem LLC, Lawson held positions ranging from Inventory Specialist to Vice President of Operations, where he honed his expertise in process improvement, logistics management, and business strategy. He brings a wealth of skills in operations, team leadership, and new business development, making him a valuable asset to Decker Scientific’s advisory board.
Lawson holds a degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and is known for his strong problem-solving abilities and strategic planning.
